Sourdough Pie Crust
I wanted to share my sourdough pie crust recipe. I make a lot of pies both savory and sweet on a weekly basis and wanted to create my own recipe instead of buying prepackaged pie crust. This is a simple recipe that turns out great and actually is less expensive than purchasing premade.
Ingredients
1 cup of flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup Crisco (cold/the kind in the can)
1/4 cup cold butter
1/2 cup fed sourdough starter
Steps
Add flour to a medium size bowl
Add in the butter and Crisco
cut in the butter and Crisco with a pastry cutter
Add in the apple cider vinegar, salt and sourdough starter
Add in a couple tablespoons of ice-cold water to help combine everything together
Knead on a flour work surface
Form in a flat disk and place in saran wrap
Keeps in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer up to 3 months
Enjoy!
